MayMay’s Ranch

Dog Sanctuary & Fostering Service

What is MayMay’s Ranch?

Twenty minutes outside of Winnemucca, NV, we own a 9-acre property. We plan to turn this into a dog sanctuary for deaf dogs (and providing jobs for deaf/HoH people) and elderly/unadopted/unadoptable dogs. We want these dogs to live a spoiled life in a real home setting, receiving training and unlimited love.

Fostering Service- We will be assisting local rescues and those from surrounding areas to foster their dogs while they look for forever homes. This way, the rescues will have plenty of opportunities and ability to rescue more dogs.

We purchased the land empty— it doesn’t even have utilities yet. We are looking for donations to help us build MayMay’s Ranch so that we can save as many dogs as possible. We are asking for $25 or more donations, but appreciate any amount given.

MayMay’s Ranch is a nonprofit corporation, licensed in the State of Nevada. We have also applied for 501c3 status, and are awaiting approval.

Who is MayMay?

One of our neighbors posted on Facebook a picture of MayMay, stating that she found her wandering around the area. She took her to see if she was chipped, and there were two phone numbers attached. So, the Henderson Shelter required that she stay for a short period of time while they tried to contact the owners. Nobody ever picked up the phone nor called back. She was going up for adoption the next day. We arrived at opening to adopt her. When they brought her out, she had two HUGE lines of drool hanging from her mouth, and I chickened out & left her there. When we got home, we realized how ridiculous it was to not adopt her over drool— we’ll just put a towel in every room! So, we went back and adopted her.

MayMay fit into our family like she was born into it. She was sassy, sweet, and just wanted attention and love. We were happy to oblige. Our 3 children also fell in love with her. Our oldest even brought her to Arizona to play with her for a few weeks!

At age 5, MayMay got a bump on her leg. When we saw the bump and that it was getting bigger, we took her to the vet to find out that she had cancer, and it had spread to her lungs & there was nothing we could do to help her. So, we spoiled her rotten until she let us know that it was time to cross the bridge.

Saying goodby to this sweet soul when she was still so young absolutely broke our hearts. So, we decided to save more dogs by building a sanctuary in her honor. In the meantime, we enjoy our 5 dogs— all rescues, as we have found our purpose.

MayMay’s Ranch

This is the 9-acre property that MayMay’s Ranch will be built on in northern Nevada. We do not want to take out loans, where fluctuations in the economy could affect our ability to save as many dogs as possible. So, we are seeking donations to put in utilities, homes for the dogs, and outdoor play areas. All donations are appreciated greatly. We will post pics of our progress as we are building. Thank you!!!!
